18-Year-Old Pittie Got Adopted By An Incredibly Good-Hearted Man !
|Although all the animals in the shelter deserve a home of love, we cannot deny the mere fact that older dogs and cats are the least likely to be adopted thanks to their age. It is sad but true. Most of these poor animals need to spend the rest of their lives in kennels.

Julep is 18-year-old Pittie who has just lost her owner, and unfortunately no one in her family may be willing to keep an eye on a girl with a broken heart. When she came to the Humane Rescue Alliance (HRA), the staff cared so much about her bleak future because she was the oldest they had ever accepted.

People from HRA shared her story on social media in hopes that this cute girl might be ready to find herself “just a couch to sleep on and a person’s to love,” and to their surprise, her charm immediately captured many people. This adorable doggo even made headlines, and her story has been shared over 4,000 times on Facebook.

It was here that the good-natured Wayne Lerch entered the story. Immediately after hearing about Julep, the person immediately appeared at the door of the HRA. From the first meeting, it was love.
“It was like Christmas morning,” said HRA’s veterinary technician Geri Lee. “We’re happy whenever any of our animals get adopted, but it’s sheer joy when an older one finds a loving home.”

Wayne initially arrived on a motorcycle, but immediately after meeting Julep, the motorcyclist immediately filled out the documents and rushed home to pick up his car. He could hardly wait to take the adorable dog home.
“I know she’s not getting to be around for very long but that’s okay,” Lerch said. “She deserves to measure out the remainder of her life during a loving home with somebody who’s getting to pamper her and confirm that she enjoys the last little bit of life she has.”

Wayne was still mourning the loss of his dear Pittie Jasmine shortly ago, and Julep, now named Tootie after his beloved nana, was an ideal fit fill the opening in his heart.

“I can’t believe how lucky I was, I found her” he said. “It brings joy to my heart and while I still miss Jasmine so much, Tootie runs me in the memory of being a far better person because I have her in my life.”
