Bait-Dog Spent Her Life In Dog-Fighting, Dumped In Crate And Chewed Her Way Out
|The Humane Rescue Alliance received a call from a concerned citizen regarding a dog who was running loose by a wooded area near Kenilworth Park in Washington D.C.

Thankfully, the rescuers had been in a position to arrive at once and observed the terriblecanine included in blood at the aspect of the woods! Unfortunately, the canine had deep wounds to her face, forelimbs, shoulders, neck and chest. All of that due to dogfighting.

Rescuers named her Gilly and she was immediately transported to HRA’s medical center, where she was treated for her injuries and will continue to be nursed back to health.“She is a strong little dog and has been very sweet and tolerant considering the amount of pain she must be in,” HRA wrote on Facebook.“While she continues to shake in fear, our behavior team has already created a behavior treatment plan unique to Gilly to help her feel more comfortable and confident as she comes out of her shell.”

“Gilly suffered excruciating pain, likely over a period of time, and it’s doubly horrifying to think this was all for someone’s entertainment,” said Lisa LaFontaine, CEO and President of the HRA in a statement. “Combating animal fighting is a job we take very seriously, and stopping this barbaric activity requires the vigilance and voice of our entire community.”
HRA is now offering a $5,000 reward to find the person(s) responsible for dumping Gilly.
