She was rescued from life on the streets and now she can’t stop smiling 😊
From the smile on her sweet face one would never know what a difficult start this happy puppy had in life.
She lived alone on the streets of Fresno, California. Without anyone to love and care for her, she got a severe case of scabies, and she also had a hernia. One day she was taken to a shelter, but was not adopted. Her time at the shelter was soon up when suddenly everything changed.
Fresno Bully Rescue found out about the dog and decided to save it. She was not in good health at the time, and her scabies was so bad that it smelled of rotten flesh. Still, despite the suffering, she still had the courage to wag her tail.
Fresno Bully Rescue put her up for adoption and that’s when Amy Matsushima first saw her video at her first appointment with the vet. She fell in love with her sweet face and knowing she had to meet her, she said:
“When I came across her photo on the rescue’s web, I couldn’t believe it. She seemed unhappy, but she was wagging her tail and flashing her little smile, and it struck me square in the heart. I have to meet this puppy.”
After the meeting, she adopted Shortcake who soon returned to good health. Her scabies healed, and the dog turned into a happy puppy with one unique quality – a sweetly infectious smile.
Now she flashes her adorable smile all the time. On car rides, around the house, and even when she doesn’t want to go for a walk. She also has her own Instagram where she shares her smile and spreads happiness to everyone who sees her.
From suffering street dog to the sweetest most chill pup ever, this sweet girl now knows she’s safe and secure. She loves to play and hang out but she still doesn’t like to go on walks and will try to use her cute smile to get out of them.
