Man Rescues Starving Dog Alone On Remote Island And Brings Him Home
|The starving puppy was found by kayaker Wesley White while exploring a remote island off the coast of Belize. Wesley had no idea where the dog came from, but he knew he had to save him. Despite his dog’s health issues, he was friendly and called out for people.

But Wesley faced a challenge. He related to the Dodo that he only had 36 hours until he was to leave Belize. He wondered if he would be able to get the help he needed to save the puppy in time.

Upon his return to the hotel, everyone pitched in immediately. The bartender called a friend to find a vet, and people brought cans of dog food to him.Wesley brought his rescue, now named Winston, to the mainland to visit the vet but he could only stay for a very short time.

The veterinarian, Dr. Mia, kept in contact with Wesley and let him know Wesley would recover but that he needed to find a foster. Thankfully, he was able to arrange one through the Humane Society of Belize. Foster caregiver Melanie took Winston in and over two months kept Wesley updated on Winston’s progress, showing him growing and becoming stronger. Finally, it came time for Wesley to board a plane destined for Dallas.

Winston and Wesley’s reunion was still some way off. Wesley had to drive from Montana to Dallas in the middle of January. Wesley wondered if Winston would recognize him.
