A homeless curly-haired Labrador in the garbage gave people a paw, hoping for help

The winter was odd; shattering frosts were followed by thaws, and ice rain pelted passers-by. Bertha, a half-breed shepherd with silky, curling hair and a fluffy tail, waited for her benefactress at the entry every evening, judging by the color. Stray animals were not well-liked in their community. It was formerly thought that dumping food in the garbage was more ethical than feeding stray dogs. Bertha was thankful and, despite her outward look, loving. She took off when she saw the girl and raced to “hug.” All the girl could do was provide food and a little love for Bertha.

Bertha barked loudly when she arrived at the girl’s house one morning. Her heart swelled with sympathy when the girl went outside with a plate of sweets. The dog appeared to be in a bad mood. Her wet fur was matted with snowballs and icicles, and she was knee-deep in a cold pool.

The girl knew she couldn’t keep the dog on the street much longer. Bertha appeared to be waiting for her invitation to visit. It was just required to gesture to the door, and the mongrel cheerfully slipped inside and sat down on the mat at the desired apartment’s entrance.

Bertha worked hard to impress the girl’s mother, and she beautifully completed the basic trick “Give a paw.” As a reward, the dog wanted attention, shutting her eyes with delight as her ears were rubbed.

This time, overcome with affection and warmth, Bertha did not even reach for the bowls. She was wiped dry from snow and dirt and allowed to lie down on a sofa covered with a blanket. Tired and completely happy, the dog fell asleep, hugging the first toy in his life.
