World’s oldest living golden retriever celebrates her 20th birthday

Which pet owner wouldn’t want that his loyal friend lives a long healthy life. Well Jennifer and Steve Hetterscheid’s wish came true! Their Augie is celebrating her 20th birthday making her the oldest Golden Retriever in history! They adopted August “Augie” when she was already 14 years old. She had already gone through two prior homes before they adopted her.

Golden Hearts Golden Retriever Rescue once stated that : “They figured that most people wouldn’t want such an elderly golden, but they had no idea of the upcoming journey they would be on with Augie” 

“They’ve taken her on RV trips all around the country, she’s got several canine and feline siblings, and she gets to play fetch in the pool.”

Normally Golden Retriever lives almost 10 to 12 years but that’s not Augie’s case. Jennifer one of her owners  says : “despite her age, Auggie is “surprisingly healthy” although shaky on her feet when she first stands up. She walks around the yard and is living her best life!”
