After being abandoned by their previous owner, Guardians of the Galaxy star Dave Bautista gave two abused and neglected pit dogs a lifelong home.
The 50-year-old is most known for throwing opponents about the wrestling arena and portraying a persona that threatens to sever people’s spines, but his two new additions to his family show that he is truly a gentle giant.
After Hillsborough County’s Pet Resource Center in Tampa, Florida, posted an appeal on Facebook for someone to take them in, Bautista adopted the wonderful canines.
Maggie and Ollie, two six-year-old pit bulls who have been together since they were puppies, were abandoned at the county shelter when their owner gave birth to a child. One of the rescuers commented on Facebook:
They are completely unaware of what they did to deserve this. It makes my heart shatter. They had spent their entire lives together!!! They require a household free of cats!
Please take these two into consideration simultaneously. They had just lost all they knew and cared about.
The shelter revealed a few days after the post that the adorable canines had found their permanent home — with an A-lister, no less. Bautista took to Instagram earlier this week to share a series of images of his new pets, explaining that the dogs not only needed him, but that he needed them as well.
He stated, “These gorgeous babies were ignored and abused for the first six years of their lives.” And now they’re going to be indulged and adored for the rest of their lives.
I will be eternally thankful to the wonderful animal lovers in Tampa who worked tirelessly to keep them safe, find them a home, and, most importantly, keep them together.
Greetings, ladies and gentlemen. I’d like to present Maggie and Ollie Bautista.
Hillsborough County’s Pet Resource Center shared a picture of the two pit bulls standing proudly alongside their new guardian – get it – and explained the pups had won the ‘doggy lottery’.
