A Brave Dog Rescues A Small Stranded Woodchuck And Carries It Home!

Lauren Lynde’s two-year-old golden retriever, Wally, likes to swim, so Lynde frequently throws a bat or ball for him to chase. But other times, he simply dons a shark life jacket and goes swimming by himself. The family canoes to an island in Lake Hickory Hills in Lunenburg, Massachusetts, early in the summer without knowing they may run into someone they don’t expect. When suddenly a black object that appeared to be a huge log leapt on Wally’s back, he was swimming in the lake.

Wally loves every animal he meets, said Lynde. Every time he encounters a child, he gives them a cheek kiss because he adores them. You have never met a dog more affectionate than him. As they reached their destination, Woodchuck thanked Wally, who seemed to get along well with his new buddy. Before they reached the shore, Woodchuck descended off Wally’s back, and as he rushed ashore, they exchanged one last look and nose-rubbed goodbyes.

Perhaps this chance meeting resulted in a sweet friendship between the amiable Wally and the reserved woodchuck! I think I have never seen anything more adorable than this. What a wise and affectionate dog you have.
