Commuters Watch In Horror As Railway Worker Struggles To Save Puppy From Oncoming Train

With 6.5 million views, a TikTok video portraying a railway worker saving a dog from the tracks of an incoming train has gone viral.
Onlookers assumed the lovely blue Staffordshire Terrier puppy had been abandoned at the station, but it was later confirmed that she had fled from her home via an open garage door.

At before 7 a.m. on October 17, Paul Hawthorn, 56, was working in the ticket hall at England’s Leagrave Station when he noticed a panicked puppy rushing around the platform of an approaching London-bound train. The dog was briefly restrained by a commuter but wriggled free as the woman walked away to catch her train.

When Hawthorn got on the station, the frazzled pup was once again in danger.

“Then my biggest nightmare came true when it leaped down on the tracks,” Hawthorn told Newsweek. “I was wondering, ‘What should I do?'” My training then kicked in. I called the signalman to warn the trains to slow down and prepare to halt if necessary.

The video, shared by TikTok user, skips right over the daring rescue, instead going to a loving moment of Hawthorn caressing the thankful pooch.
