Officer Saves Freezing Dog Struggling To Survive, But That’s Not Even The Best Part Of The Rescue

Having almost drowned in Lake Michigan, a stray dog has found a forever home with a woman who saw his rescue on television. A passerby noticed a white dog struggling for life on the lake after falling through the ice. She called the police and officers responded to rescue the dog quickly. While the Wisconsin Humane Society attempted to locate Michigan’s owners, he recovered from hypothermia.

After Michigan’s story became apparent that his previous owners were not coming forward to claim him, many people applied to adopt him. In reviewing hundreds of applications, the Wisconsin Humane Society chose Brenda Thompson to become Michigan’s new mom. Her first visit to the shelter was after she saw him in the news. After she put on some clothes, she walked straight here. She has been here every day since then.

She is looking forward to getting their relationship off to a good start now that she has officially adopted him.

In the morning, Brenda says, “I will take him for a nice long walk. His bed is all set up, and he has brand new bowls and toys waiting for him. He is ready to go. As a result of Hurricane Katrina, Brenda adopted a black Lab, who will become Michigan’s sister. Share his happy ending with friends and family by seeing Brenda pick Michigan up from the shelter!
