Texas constable rescues dog found on side of road with only a blanket

Constable Joplin remarked, “Thank God for our wonderful residents, and a huge thank you to SPCA [of East Texas] for meeting me on a Sunday.”

Over the weekend, a kind-hearted canine buddy was spared from certain death by a Smith County constable.

A concerned resident called Smith County Pct. 4 Constable Josh Joplin on Sunday about a dog that was lying on the side of the road near Horseshoe Club Lake with just a blanket.

He was quite hungry and nervous, but also really sweet, according to Constable Joplin.

He was able to put the puppy inside Constable Joplin’s police car after he and the civilian gained the dog’s trust.

Constable Joplin stated, “I don’t know if he was kicked out or if he’s gone. In either case, if the owners want their dog back, they may get in touch with me for further information.

The dog was given refuge and care by the SPCA of East Texas.

Constable Joplin stated, “I simply dropped him off and he was eating like a champ when I left. Thank you SPCA [of East Texas] for meeting me on a Sunday, and praise be to God for our wonderful folks.
