Police Officer Rescues Pregnant Mastiff Dog and Goes Above and Beyond the Call of Duty

When Cleveland Police Department Officer John Lyons periodically carries his work home with him, he saves lives. The officer finds homeless animals that are starving and abandoned on the streets as he is out and about in Cleveland’s Fourth District, where he helps keep the neighborhoods safe.

He regularly comes across abandoned pets while working, which he brings back to the jail until his shift is over. After taking them home, he starts seeking for homes for the dogs. He was out on patrol one evening when he stumbled upon a sickly mastiff mix.

In addition to being in poor health, she was also significantly pregnant. He captured her and took her to Westpark Animal Hospital for an assessment since he believed she required treatment straight away. He gave the dog the name Clarice and brought her home with him so he could watch over her as she gave birth to her puppies.

He made her a nice, tranquil place in his garage. Once a picture of him dozing at Clarice’s side as she got about to give birth went viral, he became well-known. John was there when Clarice needed him to help her deliver a litter of seven puppies.

As soon as the puppies were born, he realized they would all need loving homes, so he phoned Amy’s Adoptables to see if they might assist him. Such a heartwarming tale; watch the video for additional information; make a comment; and share the video on social media
