The adorable Belgian Shepherd was saved from the Chinese dog meat trade in 2015, but only after the meat traders mutilated the poor puppy.
Angel was almost a victim of barbaric practice when activists took over and stopped a truck of dogs on the way to the slaughterhouse. Angel’s face was severely damaged by the tools that dog catchers use to catch dogs and distract them.
Surgery was performed in Beijing and Angel was flown to the United Kingdom by the kind folks at Rushton Dog Rescue. All it took was one look for 25-year-old Hollie Cornes and she knew she wanted to adopt Angel. Even though she already had surgery, she would need more work and more procedures to help the dog live a happy, healthy life. Cornes said Angel’s CT revealed, “her nose was completely sealed over with scar tissue, so she wasn’t breathing through that side of the nose at all, but a 2mm hole the other side.”
She decided to do what it takes for Angel to breathe and not worry about her cosmetic appearance. She didn’t want to shake the dog and do something clean for aesthetic reasons. People donated to the fundraising action and thanks to her help, cute Angel was able to receive her surgery. Cornes says Angel is great these days and is living her best life.
We love a happy ending and wish Hollie and Angel all the best for a long, happy life together!
