A forester discovered an almost exhausted female wolf on a chilly winter’s day. It’s really difficult to get food in the woods in the winter, so the already dejected animal decided there was nothing more to shed and came up to the cottage.
After initially being appalled, the forester known as Styopa finally developed compassion for the wolf and offered her some meat to eat. He knew better than anybody how difficult it is to get food in the forest during the winter.
The wolf made a few more appearances, and when the villagers discovered that Stepan had chosen to feed it, they were concerned. They were worried that she would take their animals, but a professional forester warned them that if the animal continued to starve, it would become harmful for both the animal and the people living in the surrounding settlements.
The wolf had stopped showing up when spring arrived, but by then the forester had become used to her. The beginning of the warm season meant that there was already an abundance of food. The townspeople subsided, but the forester was displeased since he had already grown close to his friend.
But before April’s end, the wolf ran to see him again; this time, we see, she did not appear by herself; instead, she had her puppies with her. Not only did the forester discover that she consumed meat, but she also fed her wolf cubs. The wolf’s eyes were filled with gratitude, and he lost sight of his woodland wolf companion.
